First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Signed White House Photograph Signed For CBS Engineer Who Helped Film "A Tour of the White House with Mrs. John F. Kennedy" in 1962
This very attractive White House photograph of First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy is signed by Mrs. Kennedy to a CBS crew member who filmed "A Tour of the White House with Mrs. John F. Kennedy" in 1962. The television program, which you can learn more about here on the internet, and is discussed in the Time Magazine article shown below, was shown on all three major television stations and was seen around the world by over a hundred million people.
The framed photograph comes with a letter from the CBS engineer (now deceased) who was given the signed photograph in appreciation for the work he did on the famous program.
In addition to the provenance shown above I have researched many other of Mrs. Kennedy's authentic autograph examples. There are many examples of her characteristic "With best wishes, Jacqueline Kennedy" and the one on this photograph is completely consistent with those authentic examples. I am less sure of the "To Robert Hanford" part of the writing which might have been a secretarial function, in part because of the slight deviation on "b" to "e" transition of "Robert" compared to the Mrs. Kennedy's "best" and the uncharacteristic "f" in Hanford. In any case, it was clearly signed by Mrs. Kennedy with her traditional salutation of "With best wishes." The latest Sanders Price Guide to Autographs lists a Jackie Kennedy signed photographs as First Lady as being worth $2,500. This one is a lovely White House photograph signed to someone who participated in a widely publicized White House event and comes in its original frame with the provenance shown above. Price: SOLD |
