Beautiful Leather 1803 Eight Volume Set of

"The Works of The Right Honourable Edmund Burke"

1803,  London, Printed for F. & C. Rivington.  Hardcover, 5 1/2 x 8 inches, original. full calf, gilt borders on covers, raised bands with gilt titles on spine. "A NEW EDITION" complete in eight handsome leather bindings with marbled endpapers as shown above. This is a revised edition of the first works of Burke published during his lifetime by Dodsley in three quarto volumes in 1792 and updated to include works published after 1792.

Pictured below is the title for "A Philosophical Inquiry into the Origin of Our Ideas of the Sublime and Beautiful" which established Burke's reputation among the literary set. It appears in the first volume.

The final work in the volume, the last major work of Burke, published in 1796 is his "Thoughts on the Prospects of a Regicide Peace, Contained in a Series of Letters" the title page of which is shown below.

This is a fine set in great condition with a uniform binding that includes all of Burke's major works! They look so good they now reside in a prominent place in our living room.
