Set of Three Charles Hamilton Smith Aquatint Engraving of Early Ships (1811- 1812)

Charles Hamilton Smith (1776-1859)
I.A. Atkinson (engraver)
R. & D. Havell, J. Hill (aquatinters)
Colnaghi & Co., London: c. 1811-1812
Hand-colored engraving and aquatint

These are a beautiful set of three framed and glazed Charles Hamilton Smith hand-colored and aquatinted engravings. They depict early shipping, respectively titled "Shipping in the Reign of King Henry 3d," "Ships of William the Conqueror" and "Ships of the 14th and 15th Centuries." Two of these are dated as being published by Colnaghi & Co., in London in 1811 and the third in 1812. Below are two close-ups of the engravings.

The engravings and frames are all the same size (18 x 16" framed) and make a perfect grouping. I purchased three together and they are currently in my living room (see below) because my wife likes them so much.

We have seen these offered for $250 each unframed but we will not part with one alone and will sell them only as the group of three framed prints.

Price: $625
